Migrate from Invoice Ninja to Billora
and stop administering a server.

Invoice Ninja self-hosted is powerful but costs admin time (VPS, backups, updates). Migration to Billora takes hours — after, never a security update to manage, and you gain DGI 2026 compliance as a bonus.

Detailed migration guide

Each step explained, with Moroccan-specific attention points (ICE, numbering, VAT).

1

Export from Invoice Ninja

From your instance → Settings → Import/Export → Export data.

  • Select CSV (or JSON for a complete backup)
  • Check "Clients", "Products", "Invoices"
  • Download the ZIP
2

Adapt to Billora format

Rename columns using the Billora template.

  • Invoice Ninja "Company Name" → Billora "name"
  • "VAT Number" → Billora "vatNumber", "id_number" → "ice" if used for ICE
  • Invoice Ninja custom fields → add manually if needed
  • Save as CSV UTF-8
3

Import and configure

Create your Billora account, import.

  • Settings → Import → upload clients then products
  • Resume numbering (Invoice Ninja often starts at 0001 each year)
  • Configure ICE, IF, RC, patente of your business

Shut down your Invoice Ninja VPS

Once all data is validated in Billora.

  • Take a final complete MySQL backup (just in case)

  • You're free from maintenance for life

Attention points

What changes (and what doesn't)

History via full backup

The Invoice Ninja MySQL backup keeps all your history — you can re-access it anytime by temporarily re-mounting the instance on a VPS. In practice, most users never open it again, but it's useful insurance.

DGI 2026 compatibility

Invoice Ninja has no Morocco DGI connector and probably never will (market too small for them). Billora is architected for the 2026 e-invoicing reform from day one — UBL 2.1 signing, DGI portal submission, secure archiving and full export for your 10-year legal retention.

Multi-user

Invoice Ninja handles multiple users. In Billora, this is available from the Pro plan (3 users) and Business (10 users). Roles: owner, admin, collaborator (business writes, settings read-only), accountant (read-only), viewer.

Migration frequently asked questions

Can I also transfer recurring invoices?

Invoice Ninja recurrences are not transferred automatically. Recreate them in Billora (Settings → Recurring invoicing). If you have many (>10), contact us — we can help you script the migration.

What to do with the MySQL backup after migration?

Keep it 12 months minimum on safe storage (S3, encrypted external disk). After that, if no consultation need arose, you can archive or delete it depending on your legal obligations (10 years in Morocco for accounting).

How much do I save by moving to Billora?

On average: ~50-100 MAD/month of VPS + 2-4h/month of admin time. Over a year, that's 600-1200 MAD + 24-48h of your time. Billora Pro at 99 MAD/month pays for itself quickly.
