What is it for?
Importing your bank statement lets you check that every receipt and every payment out matches a payment recorded in Billora, and spot the ones you forgot. You import the bank's CSV file once; you then tick off (pointer) each movement.
Example. Youssef runs a hardware shop in Agadir. At the end of October he downloads his bank's CSV statement, imports it into Billora and discovers a 4,200 DH client transfer he had not recorded. He creates it in two clicks, straight from the movement.
Menu Paiements (Payments), entry "Relevés bancaires" (Bank statements), then the "Importer un relevé" (Import a statement) button. You can also reach it from the "Rapprochement" tab of the Payments page and from the Rapprochement report (button "Rapprocher avec un relevé bancaire"). The feature depends on your subscription (the same one as the reconciliation report): if it is not included, the page shows "Les relevés bancaires sont disponibles à partir du plan …" (the plan name is read from your configuration). See Understanding plans and limits. Available on the web; not yet in the mobile app.
Ticking off compares your statement with your payments. It changes no document, no balance and no VAT and does not replace your accountant's books: have your differences validated by your accountant.
1. Who can import?
| Action | Who |
|---|---|
| Import a statement | Owner, administrator, collaborator and accountant. Importing and ticking off are controls: the accountant, who is read-only on documents, can do them. |
| Delete a statement | Owner and administrator. |
| View and export | All roles, including the viewer. |
| Fine-grained rights (custom groups) | In a permission group, the "Relevés bancaires" resource ("Finance" family) offers: Lister (List), Consulter (View), Importer (Import), Pointer les mouvements (Tick off movements), Exporter (Export) and Supprimer (Delete). |
A viewer sees the statements but cannot import. An account scheduled for deletion is read-only (export remains possible). If your role does not allow it, the wizard shows "Votre rôle ne permet pas d'importer un relevé bancaire." (Your role does not allow importing a bank statement.)
2. Prepare the file
Download the statement from your bank's online space, in CSV format (or text). An Excel file (.xlsx) must first be saved as CSV. Billora reads:
- a header row (banks often add title lines before it: you tell Billora which line holds the columns);
- for each movement: the operation date, a label and an amount (in two Debit and Credit columns, or in one signed column); the value date and the reference are optional.
On the first step, "Télécharger le modèle CSV" (Download the CSV template) gives you a sample file (UTF-8, semicolon separator) with the columns "Date opération", "Date valeur", "Libellé", "Référence", "Débit" and "Crédit". Replace the sample lines with your movements.
Accepted amount formats
1 234,56and1234,56: decimal comma, space or non-breaking space for thousands (the usual Moroccan format);1.234,56(dot for thousands) and1,234.56(English format);- with the currency:
1 234,56 DHorMAD; - signs:
-12,00,12,00-,(12,00); - at most 2 decimals, maximum 99,999,999.99.
An amount such as 1,234 is ambiguous (1.234 DH or 1,234 DH?): Billora does not guess. The message "… est ambigu (milliers ou décimales) : choisissez le format des montants à l'étape « Format »." asks you to pick the format in the list.
Accepted date formats
31/12/2026, 31-12-2026, 31.12.2026, 31/12/26, 12/31/2026 (month first) and 2026-12-31. A time after the date is ignored. A non-existent date (31/02) or one out of range (before 01/01/2000 or more than a year ahead) is refused. If all the dates in the file are 12 or lower (for example 03/10/2026), day and month may be mixed up: Billora shows "Format de date ambigu (JJ/MM/AAAA ou MM/JJ/AAAA) : choisissez-le à l'étape « Format »."
Limits
2 MB and 2,000 data lines per file (beyond that: "Trop de lignes (N) : maximum 2000 par import. Découpez le relevé par période."), and 20 imports per hour for your company. The file is not kept: Billora saves the movements, never the file itself, and only reads text (nothing is executed).
3. The 4-step import wizard
Step 1 — Compte et fichier (Account and file)
- Choose the "Compte bancaire" (Bank account): an active account from Paramètres → Comptes bancaires. Without an account, the wizard shows "Aucun compte bancaire" and a link to the settings.
- Click the "Fichier du relevé (CSV)" area and pick your
.csvor.txtfile. Another file type is refused: "Choisissez un fichier .csv ou .txt (un fichier Excel doit d'abord être enregistré au format CSV)." So is a file that is too large: "Fichier trop volumineux (2 Mo maximum). Découpez le relevé par période."
Billora reads the file in your browser and suggests settings: separator, header row, columns recognised from their titles. For an account that already has an import, the settings of the last statement are reused.
Step 2 — Format
- "Séparateur de colonnes" (Column separator): semicolon, comma, tab or vertical bar.
- "Numéro de la ligne d'en-têtes" (Header row number): the line holding the column titles (the following lines are the movements).
- "Format des dates" and "Format des montants" (Date and amount formats): "Détection automatique" (automatic detection) or a fixed format.
- "Encodage du fichier" (File encoding): if accents display badly, choose "Windows-1252 (Excel français)".
- Checkbox "Ignorer les lignes sans date (soldes, totaux, titres)" (Ignore lines without a date: balances, totals, titles): ticked by default; those lines are counted at step 4.
The "Début du fichier" (Start of the file) frame shows the first raw lines, and the "Formats acceptés" (Accepted formats) box recalls the formats above.
Step 3 — Colonnes (Columns)
Say how the amounts are laid out ("Comment les montants sont-ils présentés ?"):
- "Débit + Crédit (deux colonnes)": one Debit column and one Credit column; a negative amount in the Debit column remains a debit.
- "Montant signé (négatif = débit)": a single column.
- "Montant + Sens (colonne D / C)": an amount and a column saying D, DB, DÉBIT or C, CR, CRÉDIT.
Then map "Date d'opération" and "Libellé" (mandatory), "Date de valeur", "Référence" and the amount columns. A table shows the first lines as Billora understands them (interpreted dates and amounts); errors are listed in red with the line number, the column and the value.
Step 4 — Récapitulatif (Summary)
Billora checks the whole file again on the server and shows the "Période", the "Mouvements à importer", the "Total des débits" and "Total des crédits", the "Doublons déjà importés" and the "Lignes sans date ignorées". Add "Notes (facultatif)" if you wish, then click "Importer N mouvements". You land on the statement's tick-off screen.
4. All or nothing: errors
An invalid line blocks the import: a half-imported statement would distort the reconciliation. The wizard lists the first 50 errors ("N erreurs dans le fichier — aucun import n'est possible tant qu'elles ne sont pas corrigées."); fix the file and load it again. Common messages:
| Message | What to do? |
|---|---|
| Libellé vide. | Fill in the movement's label or remove the line. |
| Débit et crédit renseignés sur la même ligne. | A movement is either a debit or a credit. |
| Montant nul ou absent. / Montant nul. | A movement of 0 makes no sense: remove the line. |
| Le montant contient des caractères non valides. | Check the chosen column and the amount format. |
| Date inexistante. | Fix the date (for example 31/02). |
| Sens non reconnu (attendu : D, DB, DÉBIT ou C, CR, CRÉDIT). | Check the "Sens" column. |
| Ce fichier n'est pas un CSV texte (contenu binaire). | Export the statement in CSV format. |
5. Re-importing a statement: duplicates
You can re-import the same file or a statement that overlaps the previous one (for example the current month, completed) without creating duplicates. Billora recognises an already imported movement by its operation date, value date, amount and label (ignoring capitals, accents and repeated spaces), for the same account. Only new lines are added; the others are counted in "Doublons déjà importés". Two identical fees on the same day within one statement remain two movements.
If all the lines already exist, nothing is added: "Ce relevé a déjà été importé : toutes ses lignes existent déjà pour ce compte."
6. The list of statements
The "Relevés bancaires" page shows, for each statement: the account, the period, the file, the number of movements, the movements not yet reconciled ("N à pointer" or "Tout pointé") and the import date. Three cards summarise: "Relevés importés", "Mouvements à pointer" and "Montant non rapproché". The "Tous les comptes" filter restricts the list to one account.
The "Supprimer le relevé" (Delete the statement) action (owner and administrator) deletes the statement, its movements and their ticks: "Vos paiements et vos remises en banque ne sont pas modifiés. Vous pourrez réimporter le fichier." (Your payments and bank deposits are not changed. You can re-import the file.)
Frequently asked questions
My bank has no separate Debit and Credit columns. What should I do?
At the "Colonnes" step, choose "Montant signé (négatif = débit)" or "Montant + Sens (colonne D / C)" depending on your file.
The accents are unreadable in the preview.
Choose the "Windows-1252 (Excel français)" encoding at the "Format" step. The preview updates immediately.
My statement exceeds 2,000 lines.
Split it by period (by month, for example) and import the pieces one after the other: any duplicates are discarded.
Does Billora keep the file?
No. Only the movements (date, label, reference, amount) are saved, along with the import settings and your notes. The original file is not stored.
