Prerequisite: the electronic signature certificate
To activate DGI e-invoicing, your company must hold a qualified electronic signature certificate (class 3) issued by a provider approved by the ANRT (Morocco's national telecoms regulator). This certificate is essential to:
- Prove your digital identity to the Direction Générale des Impôts (the Moroccan tax authority)
- Sign every invoice in UBL 2.1 before it is submitted to the DGI
- Guarantee the authenticity and integrity of each tax document
E-invoicing in Billora can only be activated after a valid certificate has been imported. As long as the certificate is missing or expired, DGI submission is blocked.
Step 1 — Obtain your certificate
Three providers are approved by the ANRT in Morocco to issue qualified signature certificates:
| Provider | Website | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Barid eSign | barideSign.ma | Subsidiary of Barid Al-Maghrib |
| Digileo | digileo.ma | ANRT-trusted provider |
| Damanesign | damanesign.ma | ANRT-qualified certification |
Documents usually required
- Identity document of the legal representative (CIN or passport)
- ICE (Identifiant Commun de l'Entreprise, the 15-digit common company identifier)
- IF (Identifiant Fiscal, tax identification number)
- RC (Registre de Commerce, trade register number)
- Proof of business activity (depending on the provider)
The provider gives you a P12 or PFX file protected by a password — this is the file you will import into Billora.
Step 2 — Import the certificate into Billora
Go to Paramètres → Facturation électronique (Settings → E-invoicing):
- Click « Activer la facturation électronique » (Activate e-invoicing)
- In the Certificat de signature (Signature certificate) step, click « Importer un certificat P12/PFX » (Import a P12/PFX certificate)
- Select your
.p12or.pfxfile - Enter the password supplied by your provider
- Select your provider from the list
- Click « Importer » (Import)
As soon as Billora recognises the certificate as valid (not expired, correct signature), e-invoicing is activated automatically. You do not need to click any additional button.
Step 3 — Billora signs your invoices automatically
Once activated, e-invoicing is completely transparent:
- Billora prepares the UBL 2.1 file (a standardised OASIS structured format)
- It electronically signs the invoice with your certificate
- The signed invoice is submitted to the DGI (or to the selected operator)
- You receive the status in real time: submitted → validated → archive reference
- The final PDF includes the DGI identifier and the authenticity QR code
Step 4 — Error handling
Billora automatically handles the following cases:
Expired certificate
DGI submission is blocked as soon as the certificate expires. A clear message invites you to renew it with your provider and import the new certificate.
Invalid signature
If the P12 file or the password is incorrect, Billora shows an error during import. Submission remains blocked until this is corrected.
Network error (provider unavailable)
Billora automatically makes 3 attempts with increasing delays (5 s, 30 s, 5 min). If all of them fail:
- The invoice moves to the Erreur réseau (Network error) status (recoverable, different from Rejeté (Rejected))
- You can resubmit manually from the invoice page
You can deactivate e-invoicing at any time from Paramètres → Facturation électronique (Settings → E-invoicing) → Désactiver (Deactivate). Deactivation automatically deletes the certificate from Billora.
Frequently asked questions
Can I change signature provider?
Yes. Delete the old certificate in Billora and import the new one. Invoices already validated by the DGI are not affected.
Is the certificate stored securely?
Billora never stores the raw P12 file. Only the information needed for signing is kept, encrypted, on the server.
What happens if my certificate expires during the year?
DGI submission is blocked as soon as it expires. Invoices created during this period stay in the En attente (Pending) status and can be submitted once a renewed certificate has been imported.
